Rev. Virgil Wood Comes To Birmingham to Revive MLK's Economic Agenda
 Dr. Virgil A. Wood, a co-laboring minister with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for 10 years during the Civil Rights Movement, arrives in Birmingham April 12-13 to launch a renewed campaign to complete Dr. King’s unfinished work.
Dr. Wood has called a two-day convocation, “Remembrance & Re-Dedication: The 2013 Civil Rights Jubilee Celebration,” to begin crafting an economic plan that affirmatively addresses poverty and the resulting social ills that disproportionately plague the African American community.

WhereToGo411 Creators Set Historic Meeting with Churches to Grow Black Businesses
The national web site, WhereToGo411.com, is partnering with Birmingham non-profits, and religious, city, and community leaders to facilitate an historic one-day summit to devise creative solutions to revive urban communities suffering from years of economic neglect.
The event, will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 1101 Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive S.W. and will be driven by the theme, The Black Church: An Economic Harvest.

Christian Churches Together Respond to MLK's Famous Jail "Letter"
In a commitment to contribute to the church’s mission to confront the sin of racism in America, Christian Churches Together USA is holding its national “Symposium on Race, Faith and our Future,” on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the writing of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “Letter from Birmingham Jail.”
At its symposium in Birmingham on April 14-15, Christian Churches Together (CCT) will release its “A Response to Dr. King’s ‘from Birmingham Jail.’”
Guest speakers include civil rights leaders Dorothy Cotton, U.S. Congressman John Lewis, Rev. Virgil Wood and Rev. Bernice King.
A $25 registration fee ($15 for students) is required to attend this event.
