Dear Visitor,
REMINDER: Vision 2013 Meeting Tonight at 6pm
Beyond Birmingham 2013: Becoming the Change You Want to See
Join us in starting a community dialogue that looks back to the 1963 Birmingham Civil Rights Movement's transformative power, and looks forward to the future that we want to see 50 years from now. Beyond Birmingham 2013 calls the people to reclaim the Movement's power and work boldly together to resolve today’s continuing civil and human rights issues. Today, on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 84th birthday, Beyond Birmingham 2013 begins the work of fulfilling his unfinished vision, announced the night before his assassination: economic advancement. Dr. King advocated creating a stronger economic base by developing and supporting businesses and institutions, job creation and wealth-building -- particularly in poor communities -- as the next stage of the Movement.
You're invited to join a collection of community leaders and thinkers who are working to achieve these objectives in Birmingham through Economics, Education, and Environmental Justice, starting in 2013, and beyond.
Together, we can revive Birmingham's role as the epicenter of the continuing Movement -- of the people, by the people, for the good of the people -- because
Birmingham, The City That Changed the World . . . Is At It Again.
