Who: The Paul R. Jones Collection at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
What: Birmingham native Paul R. Jones saw a noticeable absence of African-American works in museums he visited so he began to create his own collection of works. He amassed more than 1,500 works by African-American artists, and his collection is considered one of the world's largest and most comprehensive.
