You Are Invited to BABJ's John Rogers' Roast

The Birmingham Association of Black Journalists serves State Rep. John Rogers up on a platter to raise money for its scholarship fund. 

BABJ hosts a roast this Friday to gather and laugh for a purpose. Birmingham's own nationally loved funny man, Roy Wood, Jr., dishes out John Rogers jokes and pokes with other community leaders at Birmingham's must-go-to event of the season.

ROAST DETAILS

Alabama leaders such as former Birmingham Mayor Richard Arrington, State Rep. Oliver Robinson, State Rep. Mary Moore and AL.com columnist John Archibald, along with other special guests, will highlight the follies and exciting memorable moments in the life of Rogers, one of the state's most influential political figure.

The event takes place this Friday, April 26, at The Harbert Center. The cocktail reception starts at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner/program will follow at 6:30 p.m.

“Little Music Manchild: The Malik Kofi Story” Documentary Sneak Preview
 

The Birmingham Change Fund and Strategic Media Relations will host an official sneak preview and concert performance –The Malik Kofi Story–at the Harbert Center at 5:00 p.m.

The event will give the audience a look at the life of this young, rising musician and the family making it possible for him to achieve his goals. The event will also be used to raise funds to help supplement Kofi’s advanced musical training. Those who attend will witness the youth’s phenomenal talents firsthand.

Birmingham365.org Calls On Local Artists For Guest Logo Project

Birmingham365.org Celebrates Local Artists

The new Guest Logo Project is one more way the Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham celebrates the region’s cultural history, abundant attractions and talented artists. Individuals, attractions and non-profit organizations in the Cultural Alliance's service area (60 mile radius around Birmingham) are invited to submit their creative interpretation of the Birmingham365.org logo.

Artists can use the high-visibility opportunity to draw attention to their work. Selected logos will replace the official Birmingham365.org each Tuesday and then continue to be featured on the website, along with information about the artist and/or organization.

At the end of the year, Birmingham365.org  plans to print a poster featuring all of the designs.
