UPCOMING EVENT: Supper With The Foot Soldiers at Z's Restaurant on MONDAY, August 6, 2012
|
Dear Visitor,
You are invited to join the Foot Soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement for dinner, discussions and decisions about the civil rights issues today, from education to social and environmental justice to economics and employment.
This August's supper will feature civil rights activist Bobby Johnson and his daughter Taomi Ray, who on the June 30 radio broadcast shared little-known information about the civil rights movement in Gadsden in the summer of 1963. Leaders there were inspired by the Birmingham Movement in April-May 1963.
Join radio show host Lady BJ Love King and co-host Sephira Shuttlesworth to learn more about this fascinating history and how the Gadsden story is inspiring a new generation of civic leaders.
Location: Z's Restaurant, at 104 17th Street North, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests can enjoy a full-course soul food meal for $12.
Read more about Johnson's story and the Gadsden Movement at Civil Rights Radio's website.
